Jordan Hartline, CEO and Co-Owner of Safeguard by Innovative
About Jordan: Jordan Hartline of Phoenixville, PA, is the CEO and Co-Owner of Safeguard by Innovative, a local company and member of the Safeguard franchise system, specializing in commercial printing, custom and catalog packaging, direct mail, digital printing, fulfillment, promotional products, eCommerce, and creative design. Jordan graduated from Ursinus College with a degree in Business Administration – Accounting and Finance. Jordan is married to his high school sweetheart and has three children and a dog. In his free time, he loves coaching children’s baseball and spending time with his family.
Jordan began his career with Safeguard in 2003, as a fulfillment manager. In this role, his responsibilities included hiring and developing fulfillment personnel, estimating project costs, building project timelines, establishing and documenting best practices to streamline workflows, as well as developing quality control processes.
After several years of successfully building and leading the fulfillment department, Jordan received several promotions. The first promotion was to the position of Accounting Assistant where his responsibilities included reviewing and preparing the accounts receivable and accounts payable documents and having corresponding daily interactions with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Next, Jordan was promoted to the position of Finance Manager, with a promotion to Operations Manager following shortly thereafter. In these positions, Jordan expanded his skills outside the normal finance and accounting roles to include proposal writing, business development, and management of IT operations.
Then, in 2017 a new opportunity presented itself – the opportunity to purchase the company for which he had worked for 14 years. The company, owned by Safeguard Business Systems – Deluxe Corporation, was going to be sold and operated as part of the Safeguard franchise network. So, in June 2017, Jordan and colleague Drew Galvin purchased the business and Jordan took on yet another new role, the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Safeguard by Innovative. Today, along with his duties as CEO, Jordan oversees the operations side of the business, including the accounting, IT, and warehouse functions. Jordan enjoys getting involved in projects and working with his team to develop unique solutions that resolve customer’s pain points. He is particularly proud of his company’s involvement in the community and looks forward to continuing to build relationships with local community groups.
Jordan’s experience with The Job Exchange: Jordan met Lori through a friend. Jordan worked with a Job Exchange staff member throughout the entire process of interviewing and placement with Safeguard. Jordan notes that the staff of the Job Exchange was consistent and caring throughout the whole process. As his first job out of college, he thought starting out at a local company would be a good beginning. He really liked the family-owned small business atmosphere and liked it from day one! He is particularly proud of his tenure at Safeguard. His trajectory from his first job in the warehouse to CEO is one of The Job Exchange’s favorite stories.
Jordan’s Advice for Job Seekers: First and foremost: show up for your interview! Secondly, it is important to be honest with yourself and your potential employer. Take some time to do some soul searching so you know what you are looking for. And finally, be yourself!
